Sydney Anglican Diocese Refugee Ministry |
The Sydney Anglican Diocese Refugee Ministry has been ministering to the needs of refugees in sydney areas since 2001. This ministry relies on funding from the Georges River Region and the Archbishop`s CCDP funding program which employ a full time Refugee Ministry Coordinator. The Sydney Anglican Refugee Ministry was established to fulfill God`s commands in ministering to `aliens` more biblically known as `refugees`: ``When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The aliens living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love love him as yourself, ...I am the Lord your God.`` (Lev. 19:33-34) ``Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the aliens living in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.`` Deut. 31:11-13 The Australian government has been resettling refugees into Australia for many years as signatory to the UNHCR, with the current annual intake of 13,000 refugees from war torn countries. The RIDE is a way that we can personally connect to this crisis, and it`s a way for me to make a real difference in a refugee’s life in Sydney and around the world. | SUPPORTING TEAMS: |
